Stellenbeschreibung

The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) as nationally and internationally acting institute is researching at the interface of biological and technical systems. Our research is aimed at sustainable intensification. We analyze, model and evaluate bio-economic production systems. We develop and integrate new technologies and management strategies for a knowledge-based, site-specific production of biomass, and its use for food, as raw materials and fuels - from basic research to application.

Thus we are contributing to food security, animal welfare, the holistic use of biomass, and to protect the climate and environment.

 

For the project “I4S” - Integrated System for Site-Specific Management of Soil Fertility we are looking for a

 

Technician (full time) for the development of mobile soil sensor platforms, integration and testing of ground sensors (m/f/d)

 

I4S is a joint project within the framework of the BonaRes initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research on the occasion of the International Year of Soil. The project aims to contribute to the preservation and improvement of soil fertility by developing new methods of sensor technology and mathematical modeling. One focus is the development of mobile multi-sensor platforms, which should include the power supply, sampler and instrumentation for the mapping of arable land. The measurement methods include geoelectrics, potentiometry, Vis-NIR, gamma and fluorescence spectroscopy.


Job description

  • Planning, construction and functional testing of the sensor platforms and a soil sampler,
  • Installation of the sensors in the sensor platform,
  • Support in planning, execution and evaluation of experiments in the laboratory and in the fields with Vis-NIR, X-ray fluorescence, THz and gamma spectrometers.

Voraussetzungen

Qualifications

  • Training or studies (B.Sc.) in the field of mechatronics, mechanical engineering, technology,
  • Safe handling of SolidWorks,
  • Good skills and first practical experience in mechanics for the design, layout, dimensioning and integration of sensor systems
  • Experience with data analysis programs (preferably Matlab or R)
  • Programming skills with Visual Studio .Net-Framework and C# (WPF) is an advantage.
  • Reliable and team-oriented, independent way of working,
  • Interest in sensor technology and experimental development,
  • Language skills in English are an advantage,
  • Willingness to travel.
